At gemak!, we want to create a place where everyone can express themselves and do so with pride, in their own style, culture, words and feelings.
Code of Conduct: Our Key Points
Respect All Boundaries: Always ask for consent. Only yes means yes.
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or violence.
Everyone’s Responsibility: Every attendee shares responsibility for maintaining a safer environment.
Know Your Limits: Respect your own and others’ limits—no pushing or pressuring.
Reporting & Support Options
- On-Site Crew: Our crew members wear identifiable shirts or vests and are available to help.
- Calming Spaces: We have a designated “Safer Space” with seating, water, and support options for anyone needing to rest or speak privately.
- Anonymous Reporting: Text or call us at +32 456 55 92 02 if you experience or witness problematic behavior. We’ll do our best to resolve the issue.
Entry Policy
- Attendees enter in small groups to verbally agree to our safe-space guidelines, ensuring everyone understands and accepts the policy.
- Verbal Agreement: By verbally agreeing at the entrance, you acknowledge and commit to our safe-space policy. If you violate these terms, we reserve the right to remove you from the event.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
We have a strict no-drugs policy. Specific rules include:
- Alcohol: Consuming your own alcohol is prohibited and will be confiscated.
- Soft Drugs (e.g., cannabis): Friendly reminders to put it away.
- Hard Drugs: Visitors will be asked to hand it over or leave the venue.
- Dealing: Strictly prohibited—dealers will be removed after one warning.
Safe(r) Space Crew & Support
- The Care Team (or “Vibe Guardians”) are available to chat, support, and respond to concerns.
- Visible Support: You’ll spot them by their designated shirts/vests. They roam the venue and staff the safe(r) space.
Safe(r) Space
Our safer space is a dedicated area for those needing to cool down, calm down, or just talk. It offers:
- Noise-Canceling Headphones
- Free Water & Snacks
- Calming Environment: Free of external stressors with seats and ambient lighting.
- Safety Kits: Including first-aid items, hygiene products, and more.
